The Edmonton Short Film Festival Online Festival gives audiences the opportunity to experience our 2026 Festival lineup from home, across Alberta, across Canada or beyond.
From Sunday, October 18 at 6 PM until Sunday, October 25 at midnight, you’ll have a full week to explore the films on your own schedule. Watch them all at once, spread them throughout the week, or come back to discover something new.
WHAT CAN I WATCH?
The Online Festival brings together films from our 2026 ESFF programming, showcasing independent filmmakers and stories from Alberta, Canada and around the world.
Expect an eclectic mix of drama, comedy, documentary, animation and films that are difficult to fit neatly into any category. That variety is what short film does best.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Purchase your Online Festival ticket through FilmFreeway. When the online program opens at 6 PM on October 18, ticket holders can access the films and watch throughout the Festival window.
The program remains available until midnight on October 25, giving you an entire week to watch.
No rushing to the theatre. No worrying about parking. Just great short films when you want to watch them.
WATCH FROM ANYWHERE
One of the best things about our Online Festival is that you don’t have to be in Edmonton to take part.
If you’re a filmmaker, film lover, friend or family member who wants to support independent film, the Online Festival gives you a chance to be part of ESFF wherever you are.
