Long Shorts gives filmmakers more room to explore characters, ideas and emotions while still delivering the creativity and impact of short-form cinema. From gripping dramas and thought-provoking documentaries to unexpected stories from around the world, this is your chance to discover films you might not otherwise get to experience on the big screen.
Some will take you somewhere completely new. Others will remind you how much we have in common.
SHORT FILMS: BIG IMPACT
Our 2026 programming theme is Short Films: Big Impact, and Long Shorts shows exactly why a film doesn’t need a feature-length runtime to leave a lasting impression.
We’re also bringing some fun to this year’s festival with an 80s-inspired aesthetic, so come out, enjoy the atmosphere and spend an afternoon discovering independent filmmaking from Canada and around the world.
