For 2018 the Edmonton Short Film Festival is adding a brand new component, the 360° Night on the evening of October 12. This technological advancement is made possible with the newly redesigned Zeider Dome Theatre at the Telus World of Science.

This is the only segment that is open to Alberta Filmmakers AND International filmmakers submit here

The  vast majority of 360° films have traditionally only been viewable on a mobile device or headset. The same has been true with Virtual Reality films only being seen experienced  on VR Headsets, VR Goggles and VR Glasses. There are small immersive 360° projection domes that help share this mind blowing experience but up until now it has not been possible to share the VR/360° in large numbers.

This is a first in the film festival environment in North America. This new system at the Zeidler Dom Theatre uses Sony 4K projectors giving a meridian resolution of 10K. Theatre audio will be through a 17.1 speaker system which can be adjusted to 5.1 or 7.1.

The fixed seating in the planetarium will accommodate 200 audience members. In addition,  there will be bean bag chairs for another 40 people bringing the total capacity to 240 .

The 360 degree wrap-around sound & vision in a large permanent theatre will be a once in a life time experience. Please join us on October 12th at 7:PM , Zeidler Dome Theatre, Telus World of Science.
