Are you a content creator? An emerging filmmaker? Do you want to learn core concepts of filmmaking? This workshop focuses on how to build a compelling story, create complex characters, how to use editing software, and how to produce a script to film, all with your mobile device.

Organized by the Edmonton Short Film Festival, this event is held at Concordia University of Edmonton and targeted towards teaching individuals about the craft of filmmaking and content creation. At 10:00AM, the first class focuses on storytelling and production techniques taught by ESFF Founder and film director Daniel Foreman. Attendees will learn what makes a strong story and how to bring it to life visually. Register here.

A free lunch will be provided from 12:00PM-1:00PM, giving the attendees the opportunity to mingle and network with others.

The second class runs from 1:00PM-3:00PM and focuses on post-production. Attendees will gain basic knowledge for using editing CapCut software to put together video sequences from their captured footage and form a cohesive story. Edmonton filmmaker Sam Reid will be teaching the class. Register here.

We have a capacity of 80 available tickets for in-person attendees ($15). If you are unable to attend or in-person tickets have sold out, we offer a FREE online live-streamed service of the entire event, with a capacity of 250 available reservations. Please note that we do not record the event to be viewed later, so you will need to watch live. A link for online registrants will be provided closer to event date.
