The 2017  Red Carpet Gala was held on Saturday evening, October 14. Tickets included a red carpet Hollywood-inspired experience for Edmonton moviegoers, Alberta indie film screenings, live music by Olivia Rose, complimentary treats from Drift Food Truck, popcorn from SERVUS and a fun, festive atmosphere. A cash bar served local craft beer from Village Brewery and a selection of wines. The audience plays a huge role in the success of the evening by choosing their favourite film which will be presented the coveted People’s Choice Award. Doors opened at 6 PM. This year’s winning  filmmakers are listed here!

The  Free Family Fun Film Fest was  held on Sunday afternoon, October 15.  This free event was part of the Canada 150 Celebrations and included the best of Independent Alberta family friendly movies and more.  Hollywood actor Josh Emerson  screened the Canadian premiere of his short film “Tide of Whispers”  and interacted with the audience for an informative Q & A that followed the film.

Both events were held  at the  Royal Alberta Museum Theatre 12845-102 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5N 0M6.  The Museum facilities are now closed and the ESFF is on the hunt for a new venue! Contact us with your ideas for our next theatre!

The Filmmaker Skills Class was held on September 23 from 10am-3pm at The King’s University. This was a full day workshop with classes on Lighting for the Camera, Directing Actors and Sound Design. Lunch was included and all film submissions received a complimentary ticket. A limited number of tickets were  available as well. Pictures and videos will be online soon.
